As most other surgeries, endoscopy has also intruded the field of abdominoplasty. Abdominoplasty involving endoscopy is called as endoscopic abdominoplasty. While most of the other things are similar the major difference is that in this case there is a use of the endoscope. Like other procedures, a small incision is made in the abdomen. However, there is some difference in the way, in which the incision is made.

For the endoscopic abdominoplasty, the incision is made right in the belly.  It is smaller than the external abdominoplasty and through this incision, the instruments and the endoscope are inserted in the body of patient. The endoscope guides the abdominoplasty surgeons during the endoscopic abdominoplasty. With it, they receive the images, of the internal parts and the proceedings of the surgery. The surgeons tighten the muscles and the internal parts that are lose.

Also during the endoscopic abdominoplasty, the excess fat from the abdomen may be removed with the help of the liposuction. The excess of the fluids are removed from the same small incision in the belly and thus the chances of fluid build-ups are reduced. However in some cases, excessive fluid buildup do occurs. In such cases, it causes complications and therefore it has to be removed by manual aspiration with the help of a syringe or a subsidiary surgery.

For the endoscopic abdominoplasty, you should refer to a well-skilled and specialist endoscopic surgeon. As it is a major surgery, this proves to be a very important factor.

The endoscopic abdominoplasty costs more than the external abdominoplasty. However, the other factors as the place where you have the surgery, complication of your case, etc, also affect the cost. 

For you to be fit for the endoscopic abdominoplasty, you should be over 18 years, should have a stable weight i.e. you should not be expected to gain or loose too much of weight. Also for women, it is generally referred to only after they have delivered the desired number of the children and they do not wish to have any children in the future.

The advantages of the endoscopic abdominoplasty over the external abdominoplasty are as given below. In this, a smaller scar is made and therefore after the surgery, the patients are left with smaller scars. The scars, which remain after the external abdominoplasty, are not desired by the patients. Moreover, it is less invasive than the external abdominoplasty. However, as it involves an invasive surgery it has some risks associated with it. It is not useful for tightening the lose skin, which we can achieve with the help of the external abdominoplasty. Secondly, like the general abdominoplasty, it also involves risks of visible scarring, blood clots, infections and other side effects.
